I hate doing bio/about me crap but here it goes ...
Stupid random facts:
I’ve got a sick/juvenile sense of humor, I make fun of everyone including myself, I am kind of jaded & maybe a bit bitter at heart, I want to trust people, I get easily hurt but don’t show it, I like to garden, I love loud music, I am scared of spiders, I love soy milk.
Bio:
I was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. My grandparents lived across the river in Iowa, I spent half my day with them & half in Nebraska. I was raised around horses & farms. My dad was not in the picture growing up but I had enough men in my life, with 3 much older brothers, to make up for his neglect. Mom was a nomad, gone most of the time working to support us brats. I never had many friends as we moved a lot & I kept mostly to my book collection, piano or sketch pad. As for education I had very little of it. Like I said we moved a lot & I was in & out of school so much I almost didn’t make it through high school.
My grandmother was a major influence in my life, after she died a very slow & painful death from cancer we left the Midwest for the last time. We moved to California when I was in my early teens, straight to the ghetto in Oakland which was a totally different world. My mom moved us around the US quite a bit before the Cali move. I’ve lived in a good portion of the fifty states before I was 15.
At 19 I moved to San Francisco to study fashion design. After a few years of collage I moved on to work in the costume department of multiple theater & opera houses in the bay area. This is where I learned the basics of makeup by watching the pros at work.
I gave up theater with its crap pay & tried to pursue a “normal life” as an office girl in a reality brokerage. That lasted about 2 years before I ran away to L.A. after hooking up with a modeling agency. Once I got here I quickly realized that I loathed L.A. & moved to NYC after getting picked up by another modeling agency. Some how I managed to end up back in LA & I am still here.
No more modeling for me now, just fun stuff here & there for friends. I’ve moved on to my true love of the moment, makeup. In December of 2006 I was named Beauty Editor of J’Adore Magazine & now I write about my work, reviewing products & doing how-tos, it’s a real dream come true for me. Even though makeup is my main thing I also dabble in photo retouching, photography & webmastering for my sites. Basically anything creative I can get my hands on brings me joy...
